 Welcome back to Eight Years In. (And if you’re new here, welcome!) Last week, we talked about being a vegan living in a nonvegan household (if you want to check out that post, you can find it here). And I mentioned that in my experience, being the only vegan in the house as a minor came with a different set of challenges stemming from not having your own money or emotional independence yet.  

   And I wanted to talk about that here, to give credence to the different kind of situation that it truly is and was for many long term vegans, including me. I hope that my experience and advice can be useful for you!

What nonvegans forget

   I know it’s really common for vegans and nonvegans to have a difficult time communicating. It can seem like there’s no common ground. But I think that a lot of times, things that are perceived as “miscommunications” are actually not at all. There are just some things that obstinate nonvegans willfully forget or refuse to believe or understand. And that’s what this post is about.

Making it work: 9 Questions for couples with one vegan

   Recently we covered vegans and nonvegans in romantic relationships, and I mentioned how it definitely can work. However, it takes a certain kind of communication for this relationship. 

   And so, I decided to put together a short list of the questions that can be important to discuss, as a quick guide and overview for couples who are trying to make it work. These are the questions that have helped me and my partner over the years, and I hope they’re able to help you too.
