Hello and welcome back to Eight Years In. Today I tried a new snack and I wanted to tell the world about it. So let’s not waste any more time, and let’s talk about this jerky!

Packaging

I think the packaging of this product is really sleek. It’s eye catching and not too off putting for those who are used to the nonvegan jerkies. Well done on color and design, in my opinion!

Price

   In general, jerky isn’t a particularly cheap snack. And this jerky is no different. That being said, compared with nonvegan jerkies and vegan replacement products, it’s in the reasonable range. Not the most expensive one out there, definitely. 

Visual

   Now, I’m not going to lie to you—you’re not going to mistake this jerky for nonvegan beef jerky. You can see in this picture, the little pieces look nothing like it in color or shape. And I’ll admit, the look does take a second to get used to, both because it doesn’t look like most jerkies but also because it does look, well…not appetizing, in my opinion. So for me, this is where it loses a few points. 

Texture

   The texture may also be a point of contention with you if you’re looking for a jerky most like the beef jerky that you used to eat. It’s not super “realistic”. 

   That being said, I enjoyed it. It’s a little softer and has some chew to it. Unlike most beef jerkies where you’re about to break a tooth if you want to try and chew it, this jerky lets you bite a piece off and chew it. And on a personal note, I found it meaty enough and quite satisfying. 

Taste

   But the taste is where this jerky really shines. I got the pepperoni flavor, but it was so delicious it makes me want to buy all the other flavors to try too. 

   The taste is very close to just your regular nonvegan jerky, as well as that of pepperoni. It is both realistic and delicious. And, if you like your pepperoni or jerky spicy, (like I do), you’ll definitely be a fan of this stuff. 

Overall thoughts

   All in all, I really would recommend you try this jerky. The flavor is delightful, and it’s quite a hearty snack. With 21g of protein is one bag, it’ll keep you satisfied until lunchtime. And, full discretion, I’ll definitely be buying more. If nothing else, I at least want to try all the flavors. So I’ll keep you updated on that.
