Pixi skintreats retinol tonic review

I’m the kind of gal who wants to take good physical care of herself, but doesn’t like high-maintenance rituals. For this reason, I like to stick to the basics when it comes to self-care and ornamentation. Good ingredients, budget-friendly, and simple to use. I like products that I can truly count on. So when I was looking for a retinol product, I wondered what I would be able to find.

NO ANIMAL TESTING

Of course, if I’m going to promote a product on this site, it’s going to be one that’s vegan. Which means that in addition to having no animal-derived ingredients in this product, you’ll find that Pixi also doesn’t test on animals. Which means we can all breathe a sigh of relief and move onto simply talking about the product itself.

BUDGET-WISE

Although not a bottom barrel price, you can get this retinol tonic without breaking the bank (currently $15 on their website). The bottle will last you a few months with daily use, making it a quality product with an economical price. So those were my two concerns going into buying a new skincare product. And buy it, I did.

RETINOL–WHAT IS IT?

Okay, so you’ve got me. I’m not a dermatologist or aesthetician. So when it comes to these definitions I’m not as well-versed as I could be, but basically retinol is what helps your skin to produce and maintain its collagen levels, which naturally decrease with aging. When your collagen goes away, your skin wrinkles and sags more. On the other hand, when you keep your collagen for as long as possible, your face stays youthful, firmer, smoother and more plump.

Being 23 (both at the time of initial purchase and as I write this), I haven’t had to deal with the effects of aging on the skin quite so much yet, but I wanted to get a headstart. Because we all know what they say, “prevention is the best cure.” (Cure? Treatment? I’ve heard it said both ways. Well, the point still stands, regardless.)

MY EXPERIENCE

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this product going into it, because I’d never used a retinol product or a skin tonic before, but I have to say, I was quite satisfied overall. The instructions say to apply the product to your face after cleansing and before moisturizing, so I did that daily, once a day. (I could do it both morning and night, but like I said, I’m not a fan of high maintenance stuff.) And I didn’t so much see results as I felt them.

I didn’t see much difference in my face other than a slight reduction in fine lines and breakouts, but my skin feels much more plump. There was a small immediate effect, and after a couple weeks, I was impressed at just how much of an improvement I was feeling in my face. Like I was 15 again, no joke.

So I’m definitely going to keep using this product. And if I’m in the market for another skincare product, I’m going to be checking out Pixi’s stuff first. With this experience of their retinol tonic, they’ve gained my trust and interest. And maybe I’ll be more willing to spend on skincare in the future, now that I see it can actually serve me some improvements.

And if you have tried this tonic yourself, let us know what your experience was with a comment so we can all help each other out! As always, thanks for reading and have an amazing day!
